THough I'm wondering how this affects Bulbapedia pages since it does list Sinnoh dex number.
They're already working on it. All they need to do is add the Platinum Sinnoh number to each Pokémon page like here. And make two lists in the Sinnoh number page. One for Diamond and Pearl and another for Platinum.
And too be honest, I don't see them doing anything more with Castform at this point. Since it's not a 4th Gen Pokémon.

I see our "official" abbreviation is Pt which I assume is from the actual element. (but saying DPP is so much faster than DPPt ;-

Oh well, at least people will still know what the heck we mean. We will know that the extra "P" at the end stands for Platinum.
It's not as big a mouthful as "RSCFRLGE". Which can easily be "shortened" to "Advanced" Pokémon games.

But RSFRLGE has less letters than Advanced D:

Actually it's the same if you count shift or caps lock.

Colosseum, and to a lesser extent, XD may count.
But Advanced is still an easier way to refer to all the games that were released in the 3rd generation of Pokémon.

i'd just use DPP and explain if some put "?", also on the sinnoh expanison, it kinda looks like 209 or the one before giratina would be shaymin?
"Only a guess but seems the most reasonable since it also got a new form?"
On the other hand, it is also a event pokemon therefore it'd be impossible to fill so i'd actually go with Rotom being the adition there.
lastly: the silloute looks like castforms bottom end with a snowglobe like head however there already is a castform ice therefore, it's extremely unlikely if not impossible?

I'd say 211 would be Shaymin, since, you know, Manaphy was 151 in the original Sdex.
And yes the official abbreviation should be Pt, since P is Pearl... And no one bring up the Ruby and Red issue or the Sapphire and Silver one: not the same gen = less problems. PokéWiki does RuSaSm, so I don't see why DPPt is so bad.

Maybe DiPePt. Or not.
By the way, it's "fewer" problems.

Well, Technically couldn't Shaymin be 212 and Manaphy 211? What's stopping Manaphy from loosing it's early hidden status? If they make the same requirements for the nationaldex as before they probably won't use a promo pokemon for a required entry.

Serebii has the full list here. All of the original Pokémon have retained their original numbers, including Manaphy. Shaymin is not included - not even as a hidden entry.
I suppose this means that seeing all Pokémon is no longer required for obtaining the National Pokédex, as otherwise it would be odd to exclude the unhidden 151st entry - Manaphy's - from the requirement.
I can't help but find it ironic that after Game Freak has taken the initiative of supplementing the Pokédex with almost exclusively new evolutions, Nintendo releases footage of a Japanese woman playing the game with a Charmeleon (which is certainly possible seeing as there no trading restrictions). Clearly, the new Pokémon are not as precious to everyone as Game Freak seems to think; the fact that they are no longer new might have something to do with it.

Looks like Flint got what he wanted, with three (four with Rotom's Toaster Forme.. ...man that sounds funny) new Fire-types in the Sinnoh Dex- Houndoom, Magmortar, and (lol) Flareon.
...Also, Ralts for Sinnoh Dex. Yes. =D

LOL. Toaster Forme.
Really, I think the "Kitchen" Formes are actually very exciting and fresh to me. I mean, they could have made all of them Deoxsys-like and made them all the same type, and just have their movesets switched around. Instead, we get a creative change, where all the Rotom have models that look like kitchen appliances, and gain a new type because of it. I think that is GENIUS.
The new pokedex is cool as well, since we now get new fire types, Porygon Z (YES!) and some other notables. Looks like Platinum got much cooler!

Because Rotom was fishy from the beginning. Being the only non-Legendary Gen IV Pokémon not in the previous Sinnoh dex, and not having a relation to any other Pokémon.

The first four Gym Leaders (who are Roark, Gardenia, Fantina and Maylene; the Hearthome Gym is now accessible upon the first visit) are almost completely unaffected by the new Pokédex. Fantina uses Duskull - not a Dusknoir as so many of the evolution fanatics would have hoped - instead of Driflim, and Haunter instead of Gengar.
The other three use the same teams.

To be honest, though, if you can battle Fantina earlier, why would she use a Pokémon of at least Lv. 37 (Dusknoir)? =P
