There was certainly a lot of English in the new opening which isn't entirely surprising given it is being done by a K-pop group. Overall I am mixed on the song but the visuals are great. Maybe it will grow on me over the coming weeks. The ending was an absolute hit though. I was shocked we even got a new ending, given what we had before was less of a standard ending and more of a kids show segment that felt like it was intended to last a lot longer than it did.
I also can't believe it has taken them 18 months to actually adapt Scarlet and Violet properly given this is after all a tie in anime. Naranja Academy does work well for a show so I'm glad to see it finally being utilised. It was interesting to see the Elite Four and Gym Leaders all being introduced here. It seems they are going to be helpful training partners over this coming arc so I do look forward to seeing them all have proper chances to show off in the anime (also shout out to Larry for making an appearance).
Ann returned after a very long absence to fight Liko and thankfully Liko finally won a battle on her own. It definitely felt like an opportunity to demonstrate how much Liko and Floragato have grown given the strength of their usual opponents. Sango and Onikisu both showed up again at the end to pose trouble on the upcoming training missions so it seems like the Explorers aren't going to be completely irrelevant this arc.
Overall good set up for things to come and I'm glad we are finally getting to see more of Paldea proper.

Everything I wanted to see in the new anime since the beginning is finally here!(better late than never)
I would even say that it's a bit too much at once. For example, Penny appeared in the opening and episode, but she didn't even say anything. It's hard not to feel like she was there just to be there.
The new opening is great. Visually, it's not as nice as the previous one, but it's good, and the music, in my opinion, suits the atmosphere of the series. This is how it should always be.
Ending is better than previos too.
Love to see Nemona again, she is one my favourite characters in the game.
It's also nice to see Floragato in action. However, she looks quite funny in the scenes with Fuecoco and Quaxly. I hope that the creators of the anime script will finally allow them to evolve.
I'm really looking forward to fights with gym leaders. These fights would be the perfect time to evolve their starters.
Also the introduction of Sango/Coral and Onyx/Sidian as students was kinda reminiscent of the team Star admins' comeback scene from Indigo Disk.
In short, finally something that makes me really look forward to the next episodes.

Based of the new opening this segment seems like it’s gonna focus almost entirely on Liko, Roy and dot and their training. I like that we’re seeing a bunch of characters from the gen 9 games now too.
Seeing Anne properly again was nice too.
I’m curious what friede is up to though. I highly doubt he’s gonna just go find the rest of lucius Pokémon alone.

Liko etc know Expolers member join Academy. If it previous series, Main Character wouldn't recognize the villains.
Moreover, at preview we know Liko will begin the test. So there are no junk Episode which previous series did(It take more than 4 episode for challenge Gym).

Based of the fact the academy is the orange one I’d assume that means horizons is taking place during the timeline for Pokémon scarlet. Which is nice if it is cause that was the gen 9 game I bought.

@Phantom_373 Probably It's his new Pokemon. Considering Gibeon has Shiny Zygarde. Probably Friede also has one Legendary/Mythical Pokemon at those 3 Pokeball.

I didn't like this new opening. I was surprised that Liko managed to recognize ''Onigiri'' and ''Sandwich'', showing that she is actually intelligent, unlike a certain someone from Masara Town

They're going to battle every gym in Paldea as part of the terastal course they took at Orange Academy. Takes me back to the past series with Satoshi-kun.❤️

Lol the new OP and ED, I especially like the ED visuals. Anyway I'm happy to finally see the content we saw in the game for those who played it and I can't wait to see more of the characters especially the gym leader now that the Terastal course has started (with Liko being first of course, against Katy). Geeta is here too and if they manage to fight her in the end I pray for the fight to be more impressive and difficult than what we saw in the game

I love that they use the elite 4 and the champion, I was also interested in having them come out as a surprise in the previous series, but knowing that they can constantly be there gives it a plus.

New OP, great visuals like before but ehh, not a fan of the song, the first one is still my favorite.
The new ED is super cool and just as I was expecting it was done by Giga + TeddyLoid but not only that and also lyrics are by TOPHAMHAT-KYO, no wonder I liked it instantly and was vibing with it

So... yeah. I do appreciate the slight recaps as someone who's only jumping on now. I wish she had lines, but... maybe in a future episode, as she is in the OP and all. (Rip Arven fans though, they really seem to be excluding him these days. He's not even in Masters yet, they went from Penny straight to gym leaders for gen 9 reps in that!)

Hopefully Arven will show up eventually and perhaps we get the Titan pokemon appearing too.
Perhaps too early yet, but wonder if we will see the characters from Kitakami and Blueberry appear during this arc.

Eager to see more Loki and Floragato together, as their friendship/ partnership(?) was one of the biggest highlights in the series for me! Also that was just damn cute when Fidough jumped into Floragatos' arms first thing it does when it sees her in the morning.
The main characters not only got their tera orb balls (goddamn the English language) but also are going camping and some of the bad guys including Sandwich-chan has joined the academy. But for what purpose, actual learning?????? And the main characters recognize them almost immediately!
But I'm confused by the ending, was it implying that Friede is now in possession of Lucius' pokemon? What the heck is he going to do with them?
Also is Nemona wanting to battle but keeping picking the worst times/places going to be a gag? Because if so, I'm game!
